British Armed Forces (Navy, Army and Airforce Institutes) Quintet of Plastic WII-Era Tokens, includes:
1) 1/2 Franc Septagonal Token 1944 XF
2) 1/2 Franc Octagonal Token ND XF
3) 1/2 Franc Octagonal Token ND AU
4) 1/2 Franc Octagonal Token ND AU
5) Penny Round Token ND AU
The NAAFI was/is an organization created by the British government in 1921 to provide and sell goods needed by British servicemen and their families during the World Wars. The denominations of these pieces (along a French standard) suggest that they were produced for use by British soldiers stationed in France as sort of "canteen" tokens. Certainly an intriguing selection sure to draw attention of those with an interested in the history of the World Wars. 4 of the 5 pieces come with old collector's tags and pedigrees.
