KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Subaeratus, 32 mm, 15.17 g, 12 h), irregular mint, imitating Perge, CY 21 = 201/0, but circa 201/0-195/4. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, KA. Cf. Price 2935 (for prototype). A well made contemporary forgery of a Perge mint issue of 201/0 BC. Test cut on the obverse and with cleaning marks, otherwise, good very fine.
