SEALS, Roman. Seal (Lead, 14 mm, 3.89 g, 6 h), Carrhae, circa 4nd-5th century AD (?). Crescent with pendant fillets placed upon base; above, star. Rev. ΘЄ / TЄ (?) in two lines. Very fine.
The obverse of this interesting seal shows the crescent placed upon a base that was widely used on the Roman Provincial Coinage of Carrhae in the 2nd-3rd centuries. The reverse legend, however, indicates that this piece probably dates to the Late Roman period.
