KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Obol (Silver, 9 mm, 0.71 g, 11 h), Babylon II (?), struck under Seleukos I, circa 311-281 BC. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, H above anchor; below throne, Π. SC 100.2 var. and Price 3948 (both without H in left field). An apparently unpublished variety. Nicely toned and unusually attractive. Good very fine.
