CILICIA. Tarsos. Mazaios, satrap of Cilicia, 361/0-334 BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 8.67 g, 3 h), a contemporary imitation. 𐡁𐡏𐡋𐡕𐡓𐡆 ('b'ltrs' in Aramaic) Baaltars seated left on backless throne, his body turned to front, holding grain ear and grape bunch. Rev. 𐡌𐡆𐡓𐡉 ('mzdy' in Aramaic) Lion attacking bull to left. Cf. Casabonne series 2, SNG Levante 100-106 and SNG Paris 330-353 (for prototype). An interesting contemporary imitation of attractive style. Test cut on the reverse and somewhat porous, otherwise, about very fine.
