Rx: KOINON TPAKON A?E?AN?PIA EN around, FI?I??O / ?O?I in two lines in exergue, ?V - T - IA across field, Zeus seated l., naked to waist, holding Victory and scepter. The reverse legend states that "The Commune of the Thracians (is celebrating) games of the Pythian sort at Philippopolis in honor of Alexander the Great". These games were apparently held in Caracalla's presence in 214 AD as he was marching to the East and acting as though he was Alexander the Great reborn.Dark green patina, lightly pitted on obverse.
