Niccolò Spinelli called Fiorentino, Alfonso I d'Este (1476-1534), uniface bronze medal, bust right wearing close-fitted cap, 69.5mm (cf. Hill 923; Arm. I, 84, 1; Pollard 290 = Kress 256), smoothed edge, old cast. The missing reverse records Alfonso's visit to Florence en route to Rome in 1492 when aged 16. The medal is one of only five pieces signed by the artist.
