Nicholas II (1894-1917), 25-roubles, 1908, struck to commemorate the Emperor's 40th birthday, 32.36g (Bitkin 314 [R3]), good extremely fine with proof-like surfaces, extremely rare [150 pieces struck] Ex Galerie des Monnaies auction, Geneva, 22 June 1978, lot 2622. The gold used to strike these handsome coins came from a huge nugget discovered in Siberia in 1908.
