Bruttium, Skylletion Æ Litra. Circa 344-336 BC. Male head left, wearing pileos / Skylla left, holding club over left arm. Calciati III p. 319, 1; SNG ANS 800. (Also identified as mercenary issue of Sicily in the past). 7.15g, 22mm, 2h.

Near Very Fine. Rare. Test punch to obverse.

From the collection of a Scientist.

Usually attributed to Skylletion in Bruttium on the basis of the Skylla on the reverse, this type has been found in excavations in Lokroi and in north-central Sicily and is often found overstruck on a Syracusan litra.
