Antoninus Pius, perhaps motivated by a desire to cultivate a popular association with the first emperor, restored the temple of Divus Augustus at some point in the late AD 150s. The exact date of the restoration is not known, but the restored temple is shown on coins of 158 onwards. According to a note in Suetonius (Caligula XXII.37), the temple was located between the Palatine and the Capitol, on the site of the house that Augustus had inhabited before he entered public life in the mid-1st century BC.
