Very Fine. Very Rare.

From the collection of a Scientist.

A supporter of Marc Antony, Atratinus served as propraetor of Greece in 39 BC before being given command of a portion of the fleet sent to aid Octavian quash Sextus Pompey on Sicily. As well as can be seen on the present piece, the name of Atratinus also appears on issues of Lilybaeum (RPC I 655), Sparta (RPC I 1101), Antony's 'fleet coinage' struck in Greece (RPC I 1653-61), and an uncertain mint in northwest Asia Minor (RPC I 2226).
