ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 480-463 BC. Stater (Silver, 21 mm, 8.56 g). Nude, ithyphallic satyr rushing to right in the archaic kneeling-running position, holding a nymph in his arms who raises her right hand in protest. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Le Rider, Thasiennes 5. HGC 6, 331. Well centered and toned. Flan crack at 12h on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
