Julia Domna, Augusta, 193-217. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 2.54 g, 5 h), Laodicea ad Mare, 193-196. IVLIA DOMNA Draped bust of Julia Domna to right, her hair in five waves and bound up at the back. Rev. MONETA AVGG Moneta seated left, holding scales and cornucopia. BMC -. Cohen -. RIC -. apparently unpublished. Exremely rare. Good very fine.

The obverse title, without the AVG is not apparent in the published material. According to Cohen this inscription appeared in some Denarii (p. 106, 8-11) but this was considered later as a mistake (see RIC p.175, note 614-616 and BMC p. 102, note *, 412, 414. The reverse inscription is not apparent in Laodicea for Julia Domna but we can see it in Septimius Severus (RIC 510,510a). It is clear that we have a very rare, unpublished and most interesting hybrid.
