Salonina, Augusta, 254-268. Antoninianus (Billon, 20 mm, 2.72 g, 5 h), Rome, 254-257. SALONINA AVG Diademed and draped bust of Salonina to right, set on a crescent. Rev. IVNO VICTRIX Juno standing left, holding patera and long scepter. RIC 31. Good very fine.
Interesting enough, the crescent on the Antoniniani appears only in the coins of female members of the royal family, while the sunrays only on the male members. Selene was the sister of Sun according to the Greek mythology, and it is fascinating that those symbols were chosen to distinguish the Denarii from the Double Denarii/Antoniniani.
