BYZACIUM, Hadrumentum. Augustus. 27 BC-AD 14. Æ Dupondius (31mm, 12.36 g, 12h). P. Quinctilius Varus, proconsul. Struck 8-7 BC. Radiate head of Sol left; [trident to right]; c/ms:uncertain monogram and uncertain symbol / Bare head of Varus right. RPC I 776; MAA 87 (both refs without c/ms). Fair, porous brown surfaces. Extremely rare, a better example appearing in CNG 76 (lot 1548) hammered $10, 800 on an estimate of $300.
