ANGLO-SAXON, Kings of All England. Edward the Confessor. 1042-1066. AR Penny (19mm, 1.28 g, 3h). Hammer Cross type (BMC xi; Hild. G). Chichester mint; Godwine, moneyer. Struck circa 1059-1062. Crowned bust right, scepter before / voided cross, arms terminating in inward-facing crescents. Freeman 18; SCBI 42 (Southeastern), 1443-5 (same dies); North 828; SCBC 1182. Good VF, toned, areas of weak strike.
