(x) Eadmund (939-946), Penny, 1.42g, Crowned Bust type, Nother, uncertain mint, + eadmvnd rex, legend begins at 7 o'clock, crowned bust right breaking solid inner circle, rev. + moÐer mo [..]nca[r?], around small cross pattée in solid inner circle (cf. CTCE 268; N.697; S.1106), very fine, rare.

'In Edmund's reign the only mint producing the (Bust Crowned) type that is certainly identifiable is Norwich. A number of previous attributions are rejected in Blunt, but the possibility that the name of Bedford is intended on one or two of his coins must remain. The general impression created is that in Edmund's reign the Bust Crowned type was essentially connected with the eastern part of the country.' (CTCE p.191)
