(x) Hiberno-Norse coinage, phase I (c.997-1020), Penny, 1.16g, series c 2/b, 'Helmet' type with name of Aethelred II, 'Chester, Gunleof' mint signature, + æÐelræÐ rex aip, helmeted and armoured bust left, rev. + gm nleo fn°o leigi, voided long cross over square with trefoil at each point (Blackburn, Studies in Late Anglo-Saxon Coinage, pp 11-24, dies 3/16 = this coin; Chown, SNC 1989, pp. 256-257; Seaby 6116), slightly bent and face smoothed, very fine, extremely rare.
