Edward IV, first reign (1461-70), Rose Noble or Ryal, light coinage, type VI, Coventry, 7.47g, edward di gra rex angl s frnc d n s i b, king standing in ship, holding sword and shield, c in waves beneath, rev. ihc avt transiens per medivm illorv ibat, m.m. sun, rose in centre of floriated cross, large fleurs in spandrels, trefoil stops (Schneider 421, same dies; N.1551; S.1955), softly struck with light creasing and edge smoothing, with a further edge nick at 6 o'clock, otherwise near very fine, very rare.
