Hostilian, younger son of Trajan Decius. As Augustus, with Trebonius Gallus, A.D. 251. AR antoninianus. 3.74 gm. 20 mm. Rome mint. His radiate, draped, and cuirrased bust right; IMP CAE C VAL HOS MES QVINTVS AVG / Securitas standing right, raising arm above head and leaning on column to right; SECVRITAS AVGG. RIC IV.3 191a. RSC 59. Good Very Fine; overall crisply struck and nicely toned with good silver. Very rare.

With old B. A. Seaby tag and envelope.

From a European collection formed in the 1950's. Hostilian ruled jointly with Trebonius Gallus for a short time before dying of the plague.
