CHINA. Kirin. 10 Cash, ND (1903). PCGS VF-30 Secure Holder.
CL-Unlisted; Y-177.3; cf.CCC-481; cf.Duan-1247. "10 CASHES" variety. Exact type not shown in Duan, with very wide spacing between "1" and "0" of "10", the "1" digit having been offset and repunched. Also, "E" in "CASHES" appears to be a composite letter, the original being "I" with horizontal strokes added later. An example showing these particularities was a Kirin 20 Cash that sold in our April 1, 2018 auction (Lot#40204). On reverse, lamination error at 2 o'clock and die crack along upper horizontal bar of "Chi" mentioned for accuracy. Die rotated 90 degrees. Intriguing specimen with a lot of character and worthy of further study by the specialist. PCGS VF-30 Secure Holder.
