Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.39 g), Odessus mint, issued c.125-70 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right, with lion skin, rev. Zeus seated to left, eagle in outstretched hand, to left ALEXANDROU, to right BASILEWS, to left under arm LA, in exergue [O]DH, (S.-, Price 1191, M.-, BMC 1191, Pick (2) 2174). Toned, large flan with centred reverse, distinctive head and lion skin, type of very late style, extremely fine and rare.
