Attica, Athens, (166-57 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.40 g), issued 124-123 B.C., by Mikon, Eurykleides and Aristos magistrates, obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right wearing triple-crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with Pegasus, within dotted border, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, on prostrate amphora, uncertain letter on amphora and below, legend across A QE, to left MIK-IWN/EYP-YKLE/ARI/STO, to right the Dioscuri standing holding sceptre and patera, all within wreath, (cf.S.2555, Thompson 477b-c, cf.BMC 393, SNG Cop 265, SNG Munich 198). Toned, good fine and rare.
