Private Arthur Barnes, Town Clerk of Ulmarra, NSW, age 26, born at Sydney, NSW; Enl.28Aug1914 at Randwick, Sydney, NSW in 1 Bn; Emb.18Oct1914; reported MIA 29Apr1914 and following Court of Enquiry at Tel-el-Kebir on 11Sep1916 was declared KIA 29Apr1915 at Gallipoli in charge at Lone Pine; commemorated on Lone Pine Memorial at Gallipoli.

Arthur Barnes was the first town clerk to enlist in the AIF and was one of the first ashore at the Gallipoli landing on 25Apr1915.
