Chap.Dept, A.I.F. on first medal, Chaplain. E.Nye. A.I.F. on second and third medals, Chaplain 1st Class E.Nye. B.A. on last medal. First three medals impressed, last medal engraved. Display mounted, very fine.

Together with an oxidised bronze WWI Rising Sun hat badge by Stokes & Sons; an oxidised bronze WWI Christian Chaplain's Dept hat badge.

Edward Nye, Minister of Religion, age 45, born at Campbell Town, Tas; Enl.05Dec1914 at Melbourne, Vic with previous service of 14 years as Chaplain in CMF; posted to No.1 AGH; service in Mediterranean area and France as well as postings in England; RTA 10Jun1915 on HMAT Kyarra suffering from Influenza and Neurasthenia (records state previously wounded) and appointment terminated; returned overseas and then RTA 03Jan1916 and appointment terminated; returned overseas again for various postings; RTA and appointment terminated 28May1918. Originally commissioned in Tasmania 23Mar1901; commissioned in Victoria 23Mar1906; to Chaplain Major 20Mar1911; to Chaplain 1st Class Colonel 16Mar1914; Acting Chaplain General (1920 Officer's List).

Reverend Edward Nye was a former dux of Wesley College and a Walter Powell Scholar. He served at the College from 1909 to 1939 except for his war service. After his retirement he passed away in early June 1940.
