Norman Crosland Ampt, station manager, age 25, born at Bradford, Yorkshire, England; Enl.18Aug1914 at Broadmeadows, Vic, with 2 « years previous service with 5th Border Regt; Emb. 19Oct1914; Disch.05Apr1915 to take commission as 2nd Lt with 1st Border Regt;
WIA 21Aug1915 by shrapnel at Scimitar Hill, Gallipoli; DOW 22Aug1915 on hospital ship next day; Commemorated at Helles Memorial.
1914-15 Star issued by the Department of Defence, Australia and the British War Medal 1914-18 and Victory Medal 1914-19 issued by the War Office, England as he served his term as a commissioned officer with the Imperial Army as from 19Apr1915 with the Border Regt (LG No.29341 26Oct1915).
