East Africa Currency Board 100 Shillings = £5 1.1.1933 Pick 23s Specimen. King George V is featured on this always popular high denomination note. Wonderful golden and yellow colors continue to shine on this example. This example is from the second Shilling series of 1933, which replaced the former Florin series. The general layout of this note, with an effigy of the monarch, lion on the back, and honeycomb EACB watermarks, was used up to the 1957 Elizabeth II series. As this note represented a significant sum of money, especially in East Africa, along with the stability of the currency, most issued notes were expected to have been redeemed, leaving Specimens as this one the only way for collectors to enjoy this design.
