Fiji Government of Fiji £5 ND (1934-35) Pick 34s Specimen. A well centered high denomination featuring a striking portrait of King George V. While the design looks similar to all other notes of the King George V series, this particular denomination was not issued in large quantities. This was probably due to the short timeline of the note, as it was introduced just a year before the monarch's death. As a result, there is a lack of issued notes with which we can compare; this example may very well be a Color Trial Specimen like the other Fiji notes we are offering in today's session. Two colors are seen, unlike issued examples of other denominations which had the intaglio designs other than the portrait executed in a single color. Heavy embossing is evident on this example, and can be seen on the stainless back, which has a light hint of wet ink transfer which keeps the gradient colors. A fantastic presentation example that is appealing in every way. A very interesting example that requires more research. PMG Superb Gem Uncirculated 67 EPQ.
