Fiji Reserve Bank of Fiji 2000 Dollars 2000 Pick 103a. This high denomination note is a true scarcity of modern banknotes. Although 2,000 examples were originally produced, only 100 were released into public hands with the remaining 1,900 notes returned to the Reserve Bank of Fiji. This large size "Y2K" commemorative banknote was issued "to commemorate Fiji as the first country in the world to see the new millennium and the last to see the sunset of the old millennium," represented by the back depiction featuring a map of the Fiji islands and the 180th meridian along with the sun rising over the earth. The face of the note features the "Y2K" overprint and serial number prefix along with the portrait of Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, who is considered to be the founding father of modern Fiji. This note has only crossed the auction block once that we know about, which was a PMG 66 EPQ that realized $7,200 in January 2018. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ. HID08701242017
