French Indochina Banque de l'Indo-Chine 1000 Piastres ND (1951) Pick 84s1 Specimen. A wonderful and well centered example of this highest denomination, featuring elephants and water buffalos and the four faces of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara in Angkor Wat. This is from the last series of the Banque de l'Indo-Chine, before issuance for the Southeast Asia region was transferred to Institut d'Emission des Etats du Cambodge, du Laos et du Vietnam. This design was reused for the 200 Piastres design localized for Cambodia. This example is tied with one other example as the finest of this type in the PMG Census.
