New Caledonia Banque de l'Indo-Chine 5 Francs 0.6.1916 Pick 15s Specimen. A familiar design, but not at all a familiar place of issue or format. The Banque de l'Indo-Chine is known to have used the same design across all territories during this time, which often led the inhabitants (especially in French Oceania) to wonder where the flora, fauna, or statues originated. Similarly on this example, a design with dragons and more fitting for Asia is recolored in blue, and prepared for issue by the office in Noumea, New Caledonia. A very interesting date of 0.6.1916 is seen on this presentation Specimen with excellent embossing and all original colors. As issued examples for New Caledonia of this early design are rare, this Specimen allows collectors to fully enjoy the design as it was printed.
