Southern Rhodesia Bank of Southern Rhodesia £1 23.2.1963 Pick 21 Front and Back Printer's Models. Southern Rhodesia was a British Crown colony, and its currency as a colony featured the monarch. The last fully issued notes featuring the Crown were dated 1955. The printer's models offered here this evening are dated 1963 pointing to the intention of a new issue. First, the dropping of "Southern" from the official country title in 1963 and a Unilateral Declaration of Independence in 1965, resulted in these designs being lost to the printer's archives. Tonight we offer both the proposed £1, £5, and £10 designs intended for the 1963 issue. This pair is the front and back model from the £1 design. The redesign features a more mature Queen Elizabeth II, coat of arms at top and local fauna at bottom. Each of the models offered here tonight have pasted on dates, serial numbers and SIGNATURE in the signature panel. The front and back models are mounted on cardstock with a matte-like border and at bottom, a slightly toned and printed inscription, "Designed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd." A lovely pair graded PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ and Superb Gem Unc 67 EPQ. From the Feeling Good Collection HID08701242017

Estimate: 3000-4000 USD
