Spain Banco de Espana 500 Pesetas 1.1.1884 Pick 27s Specimen. The second highest denomination of this series, designed and printed by the American Bank Note Company. Even though Spain had its own printing works at the time, having prepared a few series before this one, the American Bank Note Company was contracted with a few issues of their own, the first being the 1876 series and the second being this 1884 one. Issuance of these foreign printed notes was not widespread due to higher costs, the Spanish-American War which followed, and completely different designs and layouts. The full counterfoil is seen on this Specimen with all zero serial numbers. Inks are brilliant on this always coveted example. Printer's stamp is noted. PMG About Uncirculated 55. HID08701242017
