Syria Banque de Syrie et du Grand-Liban 5 Livres 1935 Pick 36cts Color Trial Specimen. A very elusive example as Color Trial Specimens were not prepared often for French printed banknotes due to the complexity of having to change almost all of the printing plates on these polychrome notes. This example features a red pattern in the background with green leaves, differing from the green background and red leaves eventually used. Yellow is also used for the main body of the back. Exceptional embossing especially of the bank titles are easily seen and accentuated by the light French banknote paper. All zero serial numbers are seen with SPECIMEN stamps on both sides.
