JULIA DOMNA (WIFE OF SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS), A.D. 193-217. AV Aureus (7.24 gms), Rome Mint, ca. A.D. 196-211.
RIC-540; Calico-2653. "IVLIA AVGVSTA" Draped bust of Julia Domna facing right; Reverse: "AETERNIT IMPERI" Draped, cuirassed, and laureate busts of Caracalla at right facing left and Geta, draped and cuirassed, at left facing right. The reverse legend "Aeternit Imperi" (of the Eternal Empire) strikes a similar chord to the Septimius Severus' Family Aureus in this sale. The message being renewed stability in the Roman Empire after the civil war. Stability that is directly linked to the heirs of the newly established Severan dynasty depicted on the reverse. EXTREMELY RARE and of the finest quality. Sharply struck, nicely centered on both sides, light attractive tone, and highly lustrous with exceptional eye appeal. NGC MS★, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 5/5. Fine Style.

Estimate: $100000.00- $120000.00
