BOHEMIA. Taler, 1624. Prague Mint. Ferdinand II (1620-37). NGC MS-63.
Dav-3136; KM-354. Struck during Ferdinand II's second reign on the throne of Bohemia, several years after he successfully smashed much of the protestant resistance in Bohemia. Elite for the type, this example displays good detail on the obverse standing figure and attractive gray toning with vibrant underlying luster. We sold a lesser example of the date, graded AU-55 by NGC, for $1,500 hammer in January 2016. Certainly finer, this coin, with its impressive MS-63 grade, is the single finest graded for the date and type at NGC. NGC MS-63.
