BOLIVIA. 4 Reales, 1770-JR. Charles III (1759-88). NGC MS-62.
KM-49; Gil-P-4-4b; Cal-Type 125 #1172. VERY RARE in this state of preservation. Not only is this the single finest certified of the date at either NGC or PCGS, but it is also the single finest certified of the type. Slab insert marked "Large JR", but is small "J", Large "R", as per Gilboy. Sharply struck and lustrous, with attractive russet and lavender toning playing across both sides of this choice example. In general, 4 Reales are much more difficult to locate in high grade than any other denomination. Truly an excellent example of this work horse of a denomination with good eye appeal. NGC MS-62.
