COLOMBIA. 20 Pesos, 1875. Popayan Mint. NGC MS-66.
Fr-100; KM-142.3; Restrepo-M339.14. Despite the crudeness of its manufacture, which shows significant recutting in the legends and intermittent granularity over the surfaces, the quality is absolutely amazing, with an intense jewel-like sparkle in the fields and designs that remain mostly razor sharp. Inspection with a loupe confirms Gem quality, as no signs of handling appear noteworthy even under magnification! A true miracle survivor of the type, presently the single finest graded for all dates at either NGC or PCGS, and almost certainly the finest extant. Undeniably worthy of an exceptional Latin American cabinet! NGC MS-66.
