DENMARK. Christian d'Or, 1775. Christian VII (1766-1808). NGC EF-45.
Fr-279; KM-629; Hede-5B. Bewigged bust of the king right; Reverse: Three crowned monograms, GLORIA EX AMORE PATRIAE; ("Love of the fatherland brings glory") around. At 6.68 g, .903 fine gold, this one-year type matched the Prussian friedrichs d'or and would have traded for five Talers. This denomination was revived in the 1820's and an extensive series was struck but this issue is rare, with a mintage of 22,721 pieces. Moderately circulated, this example shows some softening of the raised design, but strong luster remains in the fields and the surfaces are free of major problems. NGC EF-45.
