FRANCE. Ecu, 1699-K. Bordeaux Mint. Louis XIV (1643-1715). NGC MS-61.
Dav-3813; KM-298.11; Gad-217; Dr/5-458. This "ecu aux palmes" is struck over an "ecu a la meche longue" (1646-54) of the Paris mint. The "ecu aux palmes" is very common but the later dates, including this one, are very hard to find. Although the undertype is visible on both sides, Louis XIV's portrait is clear and much luster is present. NGC MS-61.
