FRANCE. Ecu, 1708-9. Rennes Mint. Louis XIV (1643-1715). NGC MS-63.
Dav-1320; KM-360.24; Gad-224; Dr/5-466. An "ecu aux 8 L, 2eme type" struck at the Rennes mint. The early dates (1704-05) of this type are common but the later dates (1706-08) are generally scarce as the fourth reformation was terminated. A phenomenal survivor of the issue, this coin boasts impeccable detail in the centers with legends that are similarly sharp and show some evidence being restruck in places. Stunning olive brown tone appears over both sides and with its accompanying iridescence, imparts an pleasing glossy appearance in the fields. No marks from handling appear on either side. The single finest example graded for the date and absolutely worthy of placement in an advanced collection of world crowns.

NGC MS-63.

Estimate: $3000.00- $4000.00
