FRANCE. 1/2 Louis d'Or, 1709-A. Paris Mint. Louis XIV (1643-1715). NGC MS-61.
Fr-445; KM-388.1; Gad-243; Dupl-1450; Ciani-1812. A VERY RARE demi-louis d'or au soleil from a type struck 1709-15. Bright throughout, this example displays no highpoint wear with a touch striking softness in the centers where faint remnants from planchet adjustments are visible; a few wispy obverse marks contribute to the grade. This is the first offering of this date in Coin Archives since 2009 (Jean Elsen sale 102, lot 982).
