FRANCE. 40 Franc, 1815-A. Paris Mint. PCGS SP-65 BN Secure Holder.
Maz-723a. Obverse: Bare bust of the king with long hair facing right; Reverse: Crowned arms of France divides the denomination, wreath around, date and mintmark below; Edge: plain. This pattern by Tiolier was struck in gold (Maz-723) and bronze (shown here), both of which appear to be quite rare, neither appearing in a search of archived auction records. Stunningly preserved, this Gem survivor exhibits gleaming prooflike surfaces that possess blue and purple toning in the fields with some red remaining on the reverse. An ideal companion piece to the Tiolier-designed 5 Francs pattern (Maz-744b) that is also in this sale, both of which display similar qualities. PCGS SP-65 BN Secure Holder.
Estimate: $1500.00- $2000.00
