FRANCE. 20 Franc Pattern Essai, 1939. PCGS SP-66 Secure Holder.
15.60 gms. KM-E72; Gad-852; cf.GEM-200.11. "ESSAI" on reverse, edge with 159 reeds. The weight would suggest that this was to be struck for GEM-200.13, but the presence of "ESSAI" on the reverse and the amount of edge reeds indicates GEM-200.11 which had an intended weight of 16 grams. Struck in copper-nickel. Virtually flawless with subtle pastel hues spread over glowing surfaces. RARE.
