GERMAN NEW GUINEA. Seven Piece Set, 1894-A.
KM-1/7. Set includes: 5 Mark, 2 Mark, Mark, 1/2 Mark, 10 Pfennig, 2 Pfennig, and Pfennig. The 1 Pfennig has a chocolate patina and is an attractive piece. The 2 Pfennig was cleaned long ago now lightly toned. The 10 Pfennig is a gorgeous piece with mint red in the recesses of the devices and crisp strike. The 1/2 Mark is well struck and lustrous with light peripheral toning. The 1 Mark is bright and untoned with slightly reflective fields. The 2 Mark is also well struck, with the hairlines confined to the reverse, and is graced with attractive light smokey tone. The 5 Mark was harshly cleaned long ago now with just a hint of tone. Overall a great bidding opportunity to acquire a large set of the popular Bird of Paradise design. Despite the noted defects of the various hairlines still a presentable set.
