GERMANY. Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. 2 Talers, 1850-B. NGC MS-67+.
Dav-633; KM-1140; Thun-157; J-245. The double Taler returned to fashion in Germany in the early 1830's as the Taler shrank from the convention Taler standard (28.06 g) to the Vereinsthaler standard (18.52 g). The double Taler was large enough to display the portraits of the puffed up princelings who survived the Napoleonic wars and the Congress of Vienna. This type from Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel was struck 1850-55 and is fairly common though this is a better date. Of the date, this is certainly the finest extant, possessing surfaces that are minimally toned, display a rich satin texture and are near-flawless. Truly, a miracle of survival. NGC MS-67+.

Estimate: $6000.00- $7000.00
