GERMANY. Wurzburg. 2 Ducats, 1707. Johann Philipp II, Von Greiffenklau (1699-1719). PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder.
Fr-3682; KM-249; Helm-473. An attractive one year issue, this multiple ducat displays the ornately clothed bust of Johann Philipp II, Prince-Bishop of Wurzburg on the obverse, while the reverse depicts a rendering of the famous Madonna and Child motif above the cherub supported arms of the Prince-Bishop. Choice for the type, the detail remains sharp and even over the surfaces with only minor signs of handling, none of which catch the eye. RARE in general, and especially so this nice, with only one archived appearance in an American auction, that offering a part of the Eric Newman collection, where it was graded AU Details by NGC with evidence of a plug and a repair and brought $2,000 hammer in 2014. PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder.

Estimate: $6000.00- $7000.00
