GREAT BRITAIN. Sovereign, ND (1584-86). Elizabeth I (1558-1603). PCGS Genuine--Devices Engraved, AU Details Secure Holder.
S-2529; Fr-209; North-2003. London mint, Scalloped mint mark. Queen seated holding orb and scepter; portcullis at her feet; Reverse: Tudor rose with square topped shield center. An appealing example of this much sought after enormous gold Sovereign issue. From one of Britain's most popular and admired rulers. Elizabeth's facial details have been tastefully and skillfully re-engraved long ago, though otherwise well made and sharp example, with a light veneer of tone. Truly a classic world coin with broad appeal to numerous collecting genres, and worthy of a serious bid. PCGS Genuine--Devices Engraved, AU Details Secure Holder.

Donated by Stanley DeForest Scott to benefit the endowment campaign for the Executive Director position at the American Numismatic Society.

Estimate: $9000.00- $12000.00
