GREAT BRITAIN. Newark Besieged. 6 Pence, 1646. Charles I (1625-49). PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder.
S-3146; North-2642. 3.02 g. Issued by the royalists from their last stronghold in Newark, prior to the surrender by Charles I in May of 1646. A classic type, struck on a roughly cut lozenge shaped flan, with excellent color, little evidence of past handling and minor doubling on the obverse design. The finest graded at PCGS or NGC and among the most visually pleasing examples of this historically important type that we've ever seen.

PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder.

From the John Whitney Walter Collection.

Ex: Stacks auction, December 9-10, 1992.

Estimate: $3000.00- $5000.00
