Dav-4086; KM-393; Berman-2092. Long considered one of the most effective popes to have ever lived, Innocent XI was beatified in 1956 by the Vatican. A marvelous example of this heavy silver coin with a baroque portrait and highly detailed depiction of Saint Matthew atop a cloud on the reverse. The surfaces retain considerable luster under attractive gray toning with a number of the commonplace planchet stress marks seen over both sides.
